  1. How It Started
    • It's one of the oldest sports in history and was considered " The second largest team sport in the world". The game originated in England and was concidered too dangerous for women to play.
    • Constance Applebee introduced field hockey to the United States in 1901, when taking classes at Havard, she was skocked at what women would do for exercise.
    • In 1922 the United States Field Hockey Association was founded to help promote the sport.
  2. How its played
    • Field Hockey is played on a rectangular grass or turf field.
    • The field is cut into two 25 yard lines and one in the center
    • A goal can only be scored in the 16 yard circle near the goal
    • There are 10 players on a team and one goal keeper
    • The ball is only allowed to touch your smooth side of your stick and goalies can use any part of their body
    • Fouls are given for shooting dangerously, and raising your stick too high, and hacking at anothers stick, and the ball hit out of bounds.
  3. Requirements
    • A nine inch ball of 5 pounds
    • A mouth gaurd
    • A field Hockey stick
    • Shin Gaurds
    • And recently added; goggles
  4. Age
    • There is no age requirement
    • The most popular age group is between 14- 24
